Kia
Sadegh Kia began his musical journey at the Shams Institute, studying music theory and tanbur under Tahmoures Pournazeri. He further honed his skills under the guidance of masters such as Keykhosro Pournazeri, Sohrab Pournazeri, Alireza Javadi, and Ramin Kakavand. Concurrently, he completed an extensive seven-year course in rhythmology and daf playing with Master Hossein Rezaeenia.
Kia has also worked as an art consultant at Hamin Gostar Company, Toranj Studio, and on the Jalil project. His performance career includes notable concerts in the Maqam style at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory (with Iman Faridi). He later founded the Hatra group and released the album ‘Shamash’ in the psychedelic folk genre in Iran.
His continuous pursuit of mastery led him to study the Goran style of tanbur with Master Amirhossein Tafreshipour for six years. During this period, he collaborated on various projects, including the ongoing Hatra project with Siavash Moulaian, and recorded pieces with Shaqayeq Bagheri and Ako Hosseini. He also co-produced the album ‘Eroding’ with Kasra Faridi, released in Chile.
With over three decades of experience playing the Tanbur, Sadegh Kia remains dedicated to learning and exploring Maqam music and its combinations.
